Wednesday 4/5 – MVT and FTC

// Before class

• You should have read both Section 3.1 and Section 7.5

// During class

• Daily Quiz on the reading
• Discussion of the Mean Value Theorem and its proof
• Discussion of the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus (proof next time)

// After class

• In addition to your usual homework from Section 7.5 you will also have to do a few selected problems from Section 3.1. I suggest doing all of the Section 3.1 homework and at least half of the Section 7.5 homework before Friday’s class. Both problem sets are below.
• Here is a suggested minimum set of homework problems for Section 3.1:
  • Problems #9, #16, #20, at least two problems from #47–50, and at least three problems from #51–58
• Here is a suggested minimum set of homework problems for Section 7.5:
  • Thinking Back – all problems
  • Concepts – #0, #1, #2, and at least five more from #3–18
  • Skills – At least 25 problems from #19–64
  • Applications – At least 1 problem from #65–71
  • Proofs – At least 1 problem from #72–76, and at least 1 problem from #77–80
• Friday’s Daily Quiz will be taken either from the Section 3.1 homework or from the easier problems on the Section 7.5 homework
