{"id":1084,"date":"2018-02-13T22:18:49","date_gmt":"2018-02-13T22:18:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/geekhaus.com\/3Dworld\/?p=1084"},"modified":"2018-04-26T00:42:36","modified_gmt":"2018-04-26T00:42:36","slug":"chugging-along-on-the-campaign-trail","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/geekhaus.com\/3Dworld\/maps-of-america\/chugging-along-on-the-campaign-trail\/","title":{"rendered":"Chugging Along on the Campaign Trail"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>Weekly Project Update<\/h1>\n<p>This week we were able to get the Ultimaker 3 loaded with red and blue filaments to be able to print a double color 3D model of the United States.\u00a0 We tested printed states that represented the most recent election between Trump and Clinton.\u00a0 The Republican states are represented in red and the Democratic states are represented with blue, just as you would normally see on any election map.<\/p>\n<p>The image below is what the result of using the Ultimaker 3 loaded with red and blue filament.\u00a0 The print turned out pretty decent.\u00a0 The only problem that we had was the next day we came in to class the printer that we had loaded with the correct colors was no longer loaded correctly.\u00a0 We are not the only class using the <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.jmu.edu\/3SPACE\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">JMU\u00a03Space Classroom<\/a> as there is also the 3D Printing Club using the space as well.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1127 size-full aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/geekhaus.com\/3Dworld\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/IMG_9967.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"445\" srcset=\"https:\/\/geekhaus.com\/3Dworld\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/IMG_9967.jpg 800w, https:\/\/geekhaus.com\/3Dworld\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/IMG_9967-300x167.jpg 300w, https:\/\/geekhaus.com\/3Dworld\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/IMG_9967-768x427.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Our next steps will be coming up with a formula to use to print the states so that they show a proportional area of each state according to their electoral votes.\u00a0 We hope that this will show that states with the same number of electoral votes that have more land area and less population are equal to states with less land area and more population.<\/p>\n<p>So far we have successfully made three test prints and the image below is our results.
