OpenSCAD Project Outline

Initial Design Idea

10 points, due by noon on Tuesday 4/16

  • describe the 3D model that you plan to create, andy why
  • what knowledge does your team bring to this project right from the start?
  • what will your team have to learn for this project, and how will you learn?
  • select the “Group OpenSCAD Projects” category from the right sidebar
  • add co-author so both group members can edit and get credit for this post
  • use some screenshot or internet image for your Featured Image for now
  • delete these bullet points and the “10 points” line and the paragraphs above this section 🙂

Design Iteration

10 points, due by noon on Thursday 4/18

  • copy at least part of your code here and describe how it works
  • describe at least two things you have had to change about your design
  • support your writing with at least one screenshot of your model in progress
  • don’t forget to delete the “10 points” part

First Draft Print

10 points, due by noon on Thursday 4/18

  • print a draft of your current model
  • include a landscape, full-width photo of your draft print
  • did you draft print fail or succeed? what did you learn? what needs changing?
  • change the Featured Image for this post to your photo of the current draft print

Thingiverse Customizer

10 points, due by noon on Tuesday 4/23

  • copy at least part of your code here and describe how it works with the Customizer
  • which parameters will you let users modify or not, and in what ranges?
  • include a screenshot of your model in use in the Thingiverse Customizer
  • upload code and demo model and image to Thingiverse and enable Customizer
  • add JMU3SPACE tag and link both ways between Thingiverse and this post

Final Prints

10 points, due by noon on Thursday 4/25

  • print three final customized versions of your model
  • include photos of your final prints and describe the parameters used for each
  • discuss these final prints and their strengths and weaknesses
  • change the Featured Image for this post to your photo of final print(s)
